In the beginning
At a boarding school for merchant navy officers I developed an interest in making drawings. During daytime we went to school and in the evening did some homework but also enjoyed ourselves with card games, gambling and other stuff boys do. I developed an interest in creation of drawings and paintings. The drawings are lost. The only thing remaining is the pencil set, bought in Den Helder and the two pictures I painted.
Although that’s more than forty years back, I still have the pictures shown here. I always thought they somehow related to paintings by Malevich and others from suprematism and/or constructivism founded in Russia during the early twentieth century. The strange thing is, I did not know anything of these artists or visual art in general more than what ordinary people from the country side knew at that time. They are made with waterpaint.

Modern art
In the forty years since, I did not create anything but social constructs, e.g. student unions, employee representation and did some political work. As a professional teacher I developed workshops, courses, educational programs, etc. and studied Artificial Intelligence (PhD) and Quantum Computing (Professor Applied Quantum Computing). The interest in art remained. A girl friend studied art history and a best friend is professional artist.
More than a year ago, i.e. 2025, I started to make drawings again which I would like to show here. These pictures are drawn in the south of France. The theme of the first three drawings is heat wave and so the sun has an important place in the visuals. The last picture is inspired by The Scream by Edvard Munch.
